James Arthur Burroughs

"Art"


June 17, 1951 - February 7, 2015


 

James Arthur "Art" Burroughs of Bradenton, FL was a Born Again follower of Jesus Christ, whose witness was through his life as "a loving, honest and honorable man, known by his family and friends for his integrity and character." He was not afraid of sharing his faith with any one. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Bradenton. Art age 63, died peacefully surrounded by his family, at his family's home in Bradenton, February 7, 2015. Born in Detroit, MI. to Mary "Swanee" Wilson Burroughs and the late Arthur Burroughs. Art was the former co/owner of The Players Pub of Holmes Beach, a retired businessman, manager, and all around handy-man. He had been a passionately active player in local amateur softball leagues and also a former professional umpire for the amateur leagues. In his younger years he played in a rock band, but later in life classical music became his enjoyment. He was active in his community and served more than 10 years as president of the Tangelo Park Home Owners Association, graduated from the Citizen's Law Enforcement Academy, trained to be a certified mediator, traveled to Washington D.C. many times as an assistant to Biblical Heritage Institute's ministry, and so much more. He truly enjoyed his life and Alex his dog. He requested, in instead of flowers, any contributions be sent to Biblical Heritage Institute. Art was a loving son and brother, and is survived by his mother Swanee Burroughs of Bradenton, and sisters, Dr. Dale Burroughs of Bradenton and Mrs. Darlene (Larry) Williams of Bothell, WA. (her children and grandchildren). Also, surviving relatives of the Burroughs Family of MI. and the Wilson Family of S.C.
